Bio
Born in Shafaa`mr in the lower Galilee, Saied Silbak is a distinguished London-based Palestinian composer and oud player who transcends cultural borders. His musical journey began with classical piano at age four, but it was his teenage transition to the oud that sparked a lifelong immersion into the soul of Palestinian and Arabic music. This dual foundation in Eastern and Western traditions defines his sophisticated and evocative approach to composition and improvisation.
Silbak’s academic pedigree is extensive; after training and teaching at the ‘Beit Almusica’ Conservatoire, he studied Music and Psychology at the University of Haifa before earning a Masters from London’s prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama. His career is marked by various collaborations with international artists and contributions to major projects, including Ken Loach’s film The Old Oak.
Now based in London, his signature sound is a masterful fusion of Arabic, Turkish, Indian, jazz, and Western classical influences. A sought-after performer on the international stage, Silbak has captivated audiences at festivals across the UK, Europe, North Africa, and South America, establishing himself as a vital, "boundary-blurring" voice in contemporary global music.

New EP, The Trilogy
Commissioned by PalMusic UK to celebrate its 10th anniversary, Silbak’s trilogy opens with a song about love, performed as a duet alongside vocalist Amena Al Abed and percussionist Hanen Kiwan, accompanied by St. Paul’s Sinfonia under the baton of Wissam Boustani. The piece was recorded at Southwark Cathedral in London.
The themes of The Trilogy emerged naturally through the process of composing its words and music. Love, money, and family, culminating in the form of a baby's lullaby: the essence of life.
Latest
Oud for Palestine, October 2025
Saied Silbak’s latest album, Oud for Palestine, reimagines beloved Palestinian folkloric songs with an intimate trio of Oud, double bass, and Arabic percussion. Alongside six traditional classics, the album also features ‘Voices from Gaza’, an original composed in 2024 as a response to the genocide in Gaza.
Through fresh arrangements infused with his signature Oud playing and rich musical background, and by stripping away lyrics, Silbak delivers a powerful, resonant statement: a voice of solidarity with Gaza and a celebration of Palestinian culture which carries memory, resilience, and beauty—honoring tradition while speaking to the present.
